Quality care, training, and boarding available for horses and llamasDakota Ridge Farm is located in upstate New York just 7 miles south of historic Saratoga Springs. We named the farm after our first llama, Dakota. Gary presented him to Katrina as a wedding gift in 1990. We now have a herd of these wonderful creatures and cannot imagine life without them!

Katrina was instrumental in introducing llamas to the Saratoga County Fair in 1992 and has been exhibiting there ever since. She also started a 4-H club in 1997 called "The Woolly Llama Whisperers." The club enjoys taking the llamas in parades, to nursing homes, and many other events where there is a lot of public interaction with the llamas. In addition to farm tours, Dakota Ridge offers dayhikes (with your "own" llama) from Spring through Fall. We hike on horse trails, stop and eat lunch, and then hike back to the farm. It's just a great family outing! In addition to the llamas, our 42 acre facility currently houses eight horses (six boarders plus our own two geldings). Our biggest claim to fame locally is birthday parties with "Dakota the Kissing Llama." Party attendees are treated to hands-on interaction with Dakota along with llama-related birthday favors. Katrina has two particular areas of expertise: training and photography. She has handled many "difficult" and "unapproachable" llamas with much success. You can reach her online at LlamaWhisp@aol.com for training tips and suggestions. Her email address came from the nickname "The Llama Whisperer", which she was given by her friends and fellow llama owners because of her remarkable success in handling these creatures. And, as mentioned previously, she has won awards and prizes for her animal photography. The farm is also listed in the "I Love New York" tourism book! Please accept our invitation to come and visit our farm. We always have a few select llamas for sale and will give you as much support as you need after you take your llamas home. It is our commitment to you and these llamas that you both are satisfied. Our llamas are waiting to see you! |
